Mother Yüksel Güran Requested in New Development of Narin Güran Murder Case
The case of the murder of 8-year-old Narin Güran in Diyarbakır has taken a new turn as the defendant, Anne Yüksel Güran, has appealed against the aggravated life imprisonment sentence she received for the crime of “deliberate killing against the child.”
Anne Yüksel Güran’s lawyer, Yılmaz Demiroğlu, presented the appeal to the 8th High Criminal Court in Diyarbakır, requesting for the case to be sent to the Regional Court of Justice for review. The petition argues that the conviction decision is contrary to the law, procedures, and evidence presented in the case.
The petition points out that the decision was made without precise and open proofs, and that the defendant’s detention is unjust and lacks legal basis. It calls for a review of the decision and the acquittal of the accused due to the lack of concrete evidence and insufficient reasoning.

In the initial trial held on December 28, 2024, the defendants Anne Yüksel, brother Enes, and uncle Salim Güran were each sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment for their participation in the deliberate killing of the child. Additionally, Nevzat Bahtiyar was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months of imprisonment for his involvement in the crime of destruction, hiding, or changing evidence.
