Mother’s Sorrow: Father’s Brutality in Izmir Leaves Her Devastated
A tragic incident shook Turkey as a father, Vesim Şimşek, took his 4 children to a mountainous area and shot each of them with a gun. This heart-wrenching event resulted in the deaths of 2-year-old Ceylin, 4-year-old Cemre, and 14-year-old Nira, while 11-year-old Hira Nur survived with serious injuries. Following the shootings, Vesim Şimşek also turned the gun on himself and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The devastated mother of the children, Naciye Akkaplan, bid a tearful farewell to her daughters at their funeral in the Salihli district of Manisa. Holding each child’s coffin, she cried, “Which one of you should I apologize to?” The local Mufti emphasized that the children were destined for heaven and did not ask for forgiveness during the funeral prayer.
The bodies, after necessary procedures, were taken to the morgue before being transported to the Salihli district in Manisa for burial. It was revealed that Vesim Şimşek, who is currently in intensive care in Izmir along with his surviving daughter, had been trying to reconcile with his wife after their separation. He had suffered an accident at work that left him blind in one eye and was on paid leave for treatment.
Heartbreaking details emerged about the family, including a photo of the daughters happily eating together before the tragic event unfolded. Relatives and friends expressed shock at the incident, with one distant relative recalling the last words Vesim Şimşek spoke before the shootings occurred.
The community is left reeling from the senseless act of violence, with many struggling to come to terms with the loss of innocent lives. As investigations continue, questions remain about the events leading up to the tragic incident and how such a devastating outcome could have been prevented.
