MSÜ issues statement on allegations surrounding diploma ceremony footage

The National Defense University (NDU) has recently released a statement regarding the controversy surrounding images shared on social media after the Diploma and Flag Handover Ceremony that took place at the Military Academy on August 30, 2024.
According to the statement, unfounded claims and accusations have been made by individuals purporting to be lawyers of the lieutenants referred to the High Disciplinary Board, as well as some journalists. These claims allege that the images shared on social media were taken on the instructions of the NDU Rector and were initially served by the order of the rector. However, the NDU has categorically denied these claims, labeling them as unreal.
The statement highlights that the first image related to the incident was shared on social media on August 31 from an account named “mustafaonsel,” and it was then circulated further on various platforms. The NDU emphasizes that the photos and videos taken by a photojournalist during the ceremony have no connection to the images in question.
Furthermore, the NDU asserts that the purpose of these intentional allegations and accusations is to undermine the integrity of the institution, influence the ongoing investigation, and divert attention from the actual facts. As a result, the NDU has announced that legal action will be taken against individuals persistently spreading slanderous and unfounded claims regarding the origin of the images.
In conclusion, the NDU urges the public to disregard these baseless allegations and wait for the outcome of the ongoing investigation. It is clear that the institution is determined to protect its reputation and ensure that the truth prevails in this matter.
