‘Multi-Province Cyber Operation Results in Arrest of 82 Individuals’
Minister Yerlikaya announces the capture of 82 suspects in nationwide cybercrime crackdown
Minister Yerlikaya recently made a statement regarding the success of the “SİBERAĞ-2” operations conducted in 41 provinces across Turkey. A total of 82 suspects were caught for crimes including Online Child Obscenity, Illegal Betting, and Unlawful Provision or Seizure of Personal Data, with a particular focus on provinces Elazığ and Bingöl.
In his statement, Minister Yerlikaya emphasized the importance of protecting our children, stating that it is one of the most sensitive issues for the nation. He reassured the public that the fight against crime and criminals in the Cyber Homeland will continue with unwavering determination around the clock.
Under the coordination of the Cyber Crime Combating Department of the General Directorate of Security, the operations were carried out by the Cyber Crime Combating Branch Directorates of the Provincial Police Departments. These efforts resulted in the capture of 80 suspects involved in Online Child Obscenity across various provinces, thanks to collaboration with international organizations such as NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) and the Child Protection System.
Additionally, one suspect was apprehended in Elazığ for the crime of Unlawfully Giving, Disseminating or Seizing Personal Data, while another suspect in Bingöl was caught for violating Law No. 7258 on the Organization of Betting and Games of Chance in Football and Other Sports Competitions by advertising illegal betting sites.
The operations also led to the seizure of a significant amount of digital materials. Minister Yerlikaya praised the efforts of the police officers involved in the operations, expressing his congratulations and gratitude for their dedication. He concluded by asking for the nation’s prayers for the safety and success of these heroic officers.
