Murat Kurum Responds to CHP Money Counting Footage

Murat Kurum, a guest on Beyaz TV’s Gündem Özel program, criticized Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) President Ekrem İmamoğlu for failing to fulfill promises made in 2019 and repeating them in the current election cycle. Kurum accused İmamoğlu of prioritizing the design of the CHP instead of addressing Istanbul’s challenges, citing issues with water quality and management within the city.
Kurum highlighted the poor quality of drinking water in Istanbul, pointing out that the IMM has not invested in new water sources or purification systems in the past five years. He also criticized the management of İSKİ, the city’s water authority, for its inability to pay for electricity and lack of effective leadership.
Additionally, Kurum raised concerns about the misuse of municipal vehicles and excessive spending on advertising by the IMM under İmamoğlu’s administration. He questioned the effectiveness of the city’s social projects and urban transformation initiatives, contrasting them with the achievements of previous administrations.
The discussion also touched on transparency issues within the CHP, particularly regarding its relationship with the DEM Party. Kurum accused the CHP of lack of transparency in candidate nominations and alliances, suggesting hidden agendas behind closed doors.
In response to questions about the Re-Welfare Party’s role in the election, Kurum emphasized the importance of voters considering the challenges faced by the CHP municipality and making informed decisions at the polls.
Overall, Kurum’s criticisms shed light on the shortcomings of the current administration in Istanbul and the need for effective, transparent leadership to address the city’s pressing issues.
