Taxi driver murdered in Izmir: Oğuz Erge’s tragic story
The city of Izmir was shaken by a tragic incident that took place in the Gaziemir district. Oğuz Erge, a taxi driver and father of two, was shot and killed by a 19-year-old passenger identified as Delil Aslan. The incident occurred around 3:30 am, sending shockwaves through the community.
As the details of the horrific crime emerged, it was revealed that the assailant, Delil Aslan, got into Erge’s taxi wearing a mask and hood. After driving Erge to multiple locations, Aslan pretended to take money out of his pocket before producing a gun and firing three shots, injuring Erge.
Following the shooting, Aslan proceeded to ransack the taxi and Erge’s pockets, stealing the driver’s headphones and mobile phone before fleeing the scene. Erge was rushed to the Izmir Ataturk Training and Research Hospital in critical condition, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement authorities launched an extensive investigation into the incident, meticulously reviewing footage from the vehicle’s camera as well as approximately 70 security cameras in the vicinity. Through their efforts, Aslan was identified, apprehended, and subsequently placed under arrest.
The devastating news of Erge’s passing was announced by Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca, who expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized the need for justice to be served.
