Murderers’ Sentence Upheld for Killing Lovers and Dumping Bodies in Kızılırmak
On March 25th last year, a shocking event took place in Bağbaşı Mahallesi Ağbayır. A couple, Hasan Aydoğan and Şeyma Demir, found themselves at the mercy of two individuals who posed as police officers. The perpetrators handcuffed the couple, drove them to a remote location near the Kızılırmak River, and threw their bodies into the river after taking their lives. The suspects then cleaned the car and left the scene.
The families of the victims reported the situation to the police, and an investigation was launched. The car belonging to Hasan Aydoğan was found, and security camera footage was examined. As a result, Şefik Ekici and Sami Aydoğan, who were detained by the police, were arrested and later sentenced to aggravated life imprisonment.
Following the trial, their lawyers raised an objection, but the decision was upheld by the Ankara Regional Court of Justice. The unanimous decision by the court marks the end of a grueling legal battle for justice for the victims and their families.
