“Nalbantoğlu Remembered Tomorrow” – BRTK
The Turkish Cypriot community is set to honor the memory of Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu, a prominent figure in the country’s struggle and political history, on the 44th anniversary of his passing. Dr. Nalbantoğlu, who left a lasting impact in various aspects of Turkish Cypriot society, will be commemorated in a memorial ceremony at his grave in Nicosia Cemetery at 11:00 tomorrow.
Dr. Nalbantoğlu, who passed away on February 6, 1980 at the age of 55, played a significant role in the social resistance years and was instrumental in the Turkish Cypriot national struggle, including his service in Erenköy. As the former Minister of Health and a member of parliament, Dr. Nalbantoğlu was actively involved in the democratization process of the Turkish Cypriot people and was one of the founders of TMT.
His legacy also includes his contribution to the healthcare infrastructure of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), with his involvement in the construction of the State Hospital which now bears his name. Dr. Nalbantoğlu’s dedication to the welfare of the community is further exemplified by his personal involvement in the construction of the hospital.
Additionally, Dr. Nalbantoğlu was among the founders of the Socialist Liberation Party, further highlighting his multifaceted contributions to Turkish Cypriot society.
