National Satellite Fergani FGN-100-d1 Successfully Launched into Orbit
Turkey has successfully launched its first national satellite, FGN-100-d1, into space. Developed by Fergani Space, founded by Baykar Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar, the satellite was launched from the US Vandenberg Space Force Base. This marks the first step of the Positioning Constellation Satellite Project led by Fergani Space.
The FGN-100-d1 satellite, weighing 102 kilograms, was carried into space as part of the Transporter-12 mission under the Rideshare Program. It successfully separated from the launch vehicle and settled into orbit, starting its mission by transmitting telemetry data.
The launch and orbital placement journey was monitored by Fergani Space CEO Selçuk Bayraktar and his team from the Space Observation and Control Center. Bayraktar expressed his pride in the achievement, highlighting the team’s commitment to developing a global positioning system named Ulugh Beg with their own resources.
The FGN-100-d1 satellite will operate in Low Earth Orbit at an altitude of approximately 510 kilometers, traveling at a speed of 7.6 km/second and circling the world 15 times a day. It is equipped with redundant flight computers and will undergo various tests to demonstrate its capabilities.
Fergani Space aims to strengthen Turkey’s presence in the space ecosystem and advance space technologies through this project. With plans to launch more satellites in the future, the company is committed to contributing to the country’s space exploration efforts.
