Meteorologist Warns of Heavy Rainfall Across Turkey Starting Tomorrow
Turkey’s General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning regarding a new wave of heavy rainfall expected to hit the country from tomorrow. According to the Meteorology Specialist of the General Directorate, Macit, the rainy weather from yesterday is expected to subside today, before returning tomorrow with a vengeance.
The Meteorology Specialist warned that the rains will be strong locally, especially in the Central Aegean, the northwest of Central Anatolia on Thursday, and the north of Central Anatolia, the Central and Western Black Sea on Friday. He also urged citizens to be careful against negativities such as floods, floods, local eastern precipitation, and strong winds at the time of precipitation.
Macit added that the air temperature is expected to decrease with the precipitation, and the rainy weather will continue in the country until Monday. He estimated that the rainfall will continue for the next seven days, and the air temperatures are expected to fall below seasonal normals in the interior.
In Ankara, the rain is expected to start in the evening on Thursday and will continue intermittently on Friday and Saturday. Strong thunderstorms are also expected on Friday. In Izmir, there will be a strong thunderstorm in the interior for Thursday, followed by heavy rain that will continue as thunderstorms on Friday, with no expectation of precipitation on Saturday. In Istanbul, no significant precipitation is expected for the next three days, with the air temperature around 24-25 degrees.
Macit warned people living in Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquake regions to be careful, as heavy precipitation is also expected from Friday to Saturday, especially in the inner parts of the Mediterranean and around Elazığ and Malatya. However, there will be no precipitation only in the Southeast Anatolia region.
The Meteorology Specialist added that the rainy weather that will occur throughout the country will be local, strong, and short-term, and small hails are expected. Therefore, citizens are urged to stay alert and prepared for inclement weather over the next few days.
