Nationwide Increase in Air Temperatures
A Heatwave Expected in Turkey with Temperatures Reaching 44-45 Degrees in Some Regions
The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning about the upcoming weather conditions in Turkey, with temperatures expected to be significantly higher than normal in various regions. According to the latest forecasts, air temperatures are predicted to be 4 to 8 degrees above seasonal norms in the coastal areas of the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea regions. Additionally, Central Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia will experience temperatures 3 to 5 degrees above seasonal norms, while other areas will see temperatures around seasonal averages over the next week.
Murat Acar, Weather Forecast Expert of the General Directorate of Meteorology, highlighted the potential heatwave across the country. He stated that temperatures in the Marmara Region, Aegean Region, coastal areas of the Mediterranean Region, and the Black Sea could soar 6 to 8 degrees above normal. In some districts of Urfa, Mardin, and Diyarbakır, temperatures may even reach a scorching 44-45 degrees.
Furthermore, heavy rainfall is expected to hit the east of Trabzon, Rize, and Artvin over the weekend, particularly on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The rain is anticipated to be intense, possibly turning severe at times. In cities like Istanbul and Izmir, temperatures could be 4 to 8 degrees above seasonal norms, while Ankara may experience a 3 to 5-degree increase.
As for the maximum temperatures in the coming days, Ankara and Istanbul are estimated to hit around 34-36 degrees, Izmir 36-40 degrees, Antalya 35-41 degrees, Diyarbakır 39-42 degrees, and Şanlıurfa 40-42 degrees. Other cities like Konya, Kayseri, Adana, Bolu, Samsun, Trabzon, Erzurum, Malatya, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, and Osmaniye will also experience high temperatures ranging from 29 to 42 degrees.
With the heatwave approaching, residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses. Stay safe and cool during this period of extreme heat in Turkey.
