Police Departments Conduct Simultaneous Inspections Across the Country
Last night and this morning, Police Departments across the country carried out simultaneous public order and traffic inspections in various regions. The inspections, which took place between 22:00 and 03:00, targeted traffic violations, entertainment venues, places selling alcoholic beverages, markets, nightclubs, and other densely populated areas.
During these inspections, 16 individuals were arrested for residing in the country without a valid permit. Additionally, illegal items such as poppers, a hatchet, and a hoe were confiscated from individuals in different regions, leading to their arrest.
In total, 8,407 vehicle drivers were checked nationwide, with 1,604 drivers receiving citations. Furthermore, 162 vehicles were banned from traffic.
In Nicosia, 7 individuals without residence permits were apprehended, along with one person found with illegal explosives in his possession. Additionally, three business operators were cited for violating closing time regulations, and 16 individuals were found to be prohibited from entering a casino.
Similar inspections in Famagusta, Kyrenia, Güzelyurt, and Iskele led to the identification of traffic violations, resulting in numerous citations and vehicle bans. Offenses included speeding, driving under the influence, driving without a license or insurance, and various other infractions.
Overall, the nationwide inspections aimed to maintain public safety and enforce traffic regulations. Police authorities will continue to conduct such operations to ensure compliance with the law and protect the well-being of citizens.
