The latest forecasts from the General Directorate of Meteorology warn of inclement weather conditions across Turkey. It is predicted that the country will experience partly cloudy skies, with intermittent rain in the Marmara, Aegean, Western Mediterranean, Central Anatolia, Western and Central Black Sea regions, as well as in Mersin, Giresun, Trabzon, and Gümüşhane.
Heavy rain and showers are expected in the south and east of Marmara, along the Aegean coasts, Western Black Sea coasts, and in areas around Manisa, Denizli, Burdur, Antalya, Bilecik, Uşak, Kütahya, Isparta, Eskişehir, Ankara, Çankırı, Bolu, Karabük, Kastamonu, and Çorum. Heavy sleet and snowfall are also expected in these regions.
Central and eastern parts of the country may experience haze, occasional fog, icing, and frost. Additionally, there is a risk of avalanches in high altitudes in the inner parts of the Eastern Black Sea Region and on steep slopes in the eastern part of Eastern Anatolia.
In Artvin, adverse weather conditions have already impacted education, leading to the suspension of classes in the Şavşat and Yusufeli districts on December 16. The Şavşat District Governorship announced that due to potential transportation disruptions caused by the weather, schools and public education centers would be closed for one day. Additionally, pregnant and disabled personnel in public institutions will be granted administrative leave on the same date.
As the country braces for heavy snowfall and inclement weather, residents are urged to take precautions and stay updated on the latest weather forecasts. Stay safe and stay warm!
