NATO Leaders’ Summit Decides 2026 Summit to be Held in Turkey
At a crucial meeting in Washington, the capital of the USA, NATO leaders made a significant decision regarding the location of the 2026 summit. It was announced in the Final Declaration that Turkey will host the next Leaders’ Summit, following the summit scheduled to take place in the Netherlands in 2025.
Furthermore, Turkey will also host the NATO Foreign Ministers meeting in 2025. The last NATO summit held in Turkey was in 2004, with the foreign ministers’ meeting following in 2015.
In addition to the decision on the summit location, critical decisions were made regarding Russia and China. NATO members agreed to provide at least $40 billion in funds to Ukraine next year. The alliance also called on China to stop supporting Russia’s war with Ukraine, accusing China of playing a decisive role in the conflict.
The summit also focused on increasing collective defense in areas such as nuclear deterrence and cyber security, with a commitment to continue working towards strengthening these aspects of defense within the alliance. The decisions made at the summit highlight NATO’s ongoing efforts to address security challenges and maintain stability in the face of evolving threats.
