Nazarbayev University Showcases Innovative AI Solutions at British Education Event
Astana – Nazarbayev University (NU) made an impressive mark at the British Educational Training and Technology Show (Bett Show) in London, presenting cutting-edge AI solutions that are revolutionizing the field of education. The event, which took place from Jan. 22-24, featured over 600 innovative exhibits, workshops, and discussions led by experts in educational technology.
NU showcased a range of innovative solutions, including the Soyle App, ISSAI KAZ-LLM Kazakh language model, and Artisan Education – a startup that is transforming self-paced learning in robotics and programming. Zhanat Makhataeva, a senior data analyst at NU’s Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI), presented two standout contributions – ISSAI KAZ-LLM and the Soyle App.
The ISSAI KAZ-LLM language model is a breakthrough in generative AI for low-resource languages, supporting Kazakh, Russian, English, and Turkish. The model, trained on a neural network, addresses linguistic gaps and offers features such as speech recognition, voice synthesis, and instant translation. The Soyle App, built on Kazakhstan’s speech model, aims to bridge communication gaps and enhance the digital landscape in Kazakhstan.
Artisan Education, another highlight of NU’s presentation, is a platform for self-study of robotics and programming. This startup offers foundational lessons in programming and electronics, allowing students to gradually deepen their skills in Internet of Things (IoT) and AI projects. The startup, founded in 2023, has a team of 13 members, with eight NU students. Partnering with over 90 schools in Kazakhstan, Artisan Education is also expanding internationally, reaching schools in Azerbaijan and the U.K.
Overall, NU’s innovative AI solutions presented at the Bett Show are paving the way for the future of education, offering groundbreaking technologies that are enhancing learning experiences and preparing students for the digital age.
