Nephew of FETO mastermind Gülen apprehended
Coordinated Operation Leads to Arrest of Fugitive Family Members of Terrorist Organization Leader
In a joint operation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Anti-Organized Crime Branch Directorate, and the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), significant progress has been made in the ongoing investigation.
Selman Gülen, the son of Fetullah Gülen’s brother and a close relative of the ringleader of the terrorist organization, was apprehended in the Sancaktepe district along with his wife, father-in-law, and mother-in-law. The fugitive suspects had been evading capture for approximately one year, taking refuge in a house affiliated with the organization.
Further investigation revealed that the suspects were actively involved in the organization’s financial activities. They were found to have deposited money in banks upon the ringleader’s instructions and held positions of influence in various associations and foundations associated with the criminal network. Additionally, evidence indicated that the suspects were in direct communication with high-ranking leaders of the organization, leading to allegations of their membership.
Of particular concern is the discovery that Selman Gülen still plays an active role in the organization’s current financial structure. The authorities are working diligently to dismantle the criminal network and sever its financial resources.
During the operation, law enforcement authorities seized numerous digital materials, a significant amount of foreign currency, and two counterfeit identification documents. These materials will be instrumental in uncovering further evidence and shedding light on the organization’s illicit activities.
