Nevruz Festivities Ignite in Diyarbakır with 3 Tons of Wood
Under the leadership of the Dem Party, Nevruz celebrations kicked off in Nevruz Park located in the Bağlar district with the slogan ‘Democratic Society for Freedom’. The event was attended by notable figures such as Dem Party Co-Chairman Tuncer Bakırhan, Tülay Hatimoğulları, former Izmir Metropolitan Mayor Tunç Soyer, and foreign guests from countries like France, Ireland, Czechia, Iraq, and Tunisia.
The celebration area was closely monitored by a helicopter, and tight security measures were put in place. Firefighters and ambulance teams were on standby in case of any emergencies, and items like lighters, pencils, and perfumes were prohibited from being brought into the park.
A total of 10 thousand policemen were present in the 136 thousand square meter area, surrounded by 10 kilometers of barriers with 6 main entrance gates and 3-stage search points. Music was played from a platform set up in the area, and attendees joined in on the dance ritual known as Halay. Approximately 3 tons of wood were stacked and set on fire as part of the festivities.
The Nevruz celebrations not only attracted a large crowd in the city center of Diyarbakir but also saw significant participation from surrounding provinces and districts. The atmosphere was filled with joy and unity as people came together to celebrate this cultural event.
