The Ministry of Turkey Approves the 5 Turkish Lira Commemorative Coin for the Republic’s 100th Anniversary
In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic, the Ministry of Turkey has given their approval for the issuance of a special 5 Turkish lira commemorative coin. The General Directorate of Mint and Stamp Printing House will be responsible for printing and distributing these special coins, which will be put into circulation starting from tomorrow.
It is worth noting that these commemorative coins have been printed in a limited edition of 100 million pieces, emphasizing their exclusiveness and significance. The Ministry aims to honor this historic milestone by offering the public an opportunity to preserve a piece of Turkish history.
The design of the commemorative coin showcases the “Turkey Century” logo at its core, symbolizing the 100th anniversary of the Republic. Above the logo, the number “5” is featured, representing the coin denomination, while below it, “Turkish lira” is inscribed. To add depth and visual interest, the outer ring of the coin displays the eight-pointed “Seljuk star” motif, with repeated outlines of this motif throughout.
In terms of security features, the symbols “₺” and “TC” are incorporated on the left and right sides of the Seljuk star, respectively. Furthermore, the coin includes the publication date “2023” at the bottom. At the intersection of the outer ring and the central hub, the iconic crescent and star are prominently positioned. The coin weighs 8.25 grams and has a diameter of 28.15 millimeters.
To ensure widespread awareness of these commemorative coins, the General Directorate actively promotes their release, allowing collectors and individuals interested in Turkish history to acquire them one day before the special occasion. This gesture highlights the importance attached to these significant dates and encourages the celebration of Turkey’s rich heritage.
