Turkey to establish its first artificial intelligence high school

Turkey is set to establish its first artificial intelligence high school, as announced by Istanbul Deputy Director of National Education Hüseyin Aydın during a workshop held at Teknopark Istanbul. Aydın highlighted the expanding role of artificial intelligence in various aspects of daily life and the importance of preparing young people for the future scientific and technological developments in this field.

The workshop, attended by academics, informatics teachers, and industry representatives, discussed the creation of a school format that will provide education in all sub-branches of artificial intelligence fields. Mehmet Akif Özyurt, a Board Member of Teknopark Istanbul, emphasized the need for thorough training in artificial intelligence to equip the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge in this fast-evolving field.

Dr. Şebnem Özdemir, a Board Member of the Artificial Intelligence Policies Association, warned of the dangers posed by deepfakes generated by artificial intelligence and stressed the importance of instilling ethics, morality, and conscience in students. The workshop also addressed issues such as developing the curriculum and planning the courses to be taught at the artificial intelligence high school.

The outcomes of the workshop will be presented to the Ministry of National Education for approval, with plans to establish the Artificial Intelligence High School within the Teknopark Istanbul campus this year. The initiative aims to position Turkey as a leader in the global technological and scientific competition, empowering students to harness the potential of artificial intelligence for the benefit of the country and humanity.
