New Application Period Begins for 17 Disaster Areas, Says Minister Ersoy
Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, chaired a disaster coordination meeting in Malatya, which was recently affected by earthquakes in nearby Kahramanmaraş. At the meeting, the minister provided updates on ongoing works in the region, including the delivery of individual containers to temporary residences. To date, 14,700 containers have been unloaded in the region, with 11,700 already settled. Debris removal work is also underway, with 99% of the demolished and urgently to be demolished buildings already cleared.
Additionally, the minister revealed that 57,673 complaints were received after inspections in Malatya, with 55,440 already examined and concluded. Support will also be provided for repairing registered immovable cultural properties damaged in the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, with assistance available for survey, restitution, restoration, reconstruction engineering projects, and ground survey where necessary. Applications for project assistance in the disaster areas are also being accepted from the owners of damaged registered buildings in 17 provinces.
After the meeting, Minister Ersoy visited the container city and conducted site investigations.
