New Autism Association Formed in Cyprus
The Cyprus Autism Association was officially founded today with the mission of advocating for individuals with developmental differences such as autism spectrum disorder, speech refusal, stuttering, mental retardation, OCD, depression, ADHD, dyslexia, and learning disabilities.
Duygu Göze Ergöknil, who was elected as the president during the first general assembly, shared the goals of the association in a press release. The main objective of the association is to increase visibility of individuals with autism spectrum disorder in society and promote their inclusion. Additionally, the association aims to provide informational and educational services to families, children, adolescents, and adults, as well as organizing seminars, workshops, conferences, camps, and trainings.
Ergöknil highlighted that the Cyprus Autism Association is dedicated to ensuring that every individual reaches their full potential and enjoys equal rights in all aspects of life. She called for support from the community to achieve these goals.
During the general assembly, the board of directors of the Cyprus Autism Association was formed, consisting of the following members: President Duygu Göze Ergöknil, Vice President Cemay Onalt Müezzin, General Secretary Nejla Acar, Treasurer Nevter Zafer Cömert, Active Members Emine Çetinsel, Nihal Poyrazlı, Olgu Göze, Alternate Members Nevin Çerkez, Kale Serol, and Safinaz Davulcu.
Furthermore, a Supervisory Board and a Disciplinary Board were established within the association to ensure ethical standards and accountability. The Supervisory Board includes Naime Karata, Polat Koç, Hüsniye Demiray, and Tülay Göze; while the Disciplinary Board is comprised of Gülten Göze, Aysu Nur Özdenak, Ayşe Sofu, Sibel Tatlı, and Milhan Karataş.
