Tragic Incident at Construction Site: Crane Operator Loses his Life
In a devastating incident that took place yesterday morning in the central 4 Eylül District of Kula, the construction site was struck by tragedy when a tower crane operator, Mert Bayat, lost his life.
The incident occurred at around 09.30 in the morning, when the tower crane, operated by Bayat, started to shake violently due to the strong wind. The crane ultimately fell backwards from a height of tens of meters, leading to Bayat getting seriously injured as he was left hanging between the bars of the crane.
Emergency services, including police, health, and fire brigade teams, were immediately dispatched to the construction site after receiving notice from other workers. Fire crews were able to safely remove Bayat from where he was hanging with the help of a ladder truck. He was then rushed to Kula State Hospital by ambulance, where despite the best efforts of doctors, he could not be saved.
New details have emerged following the tragic incident, as camera footage from the construction site has been reviewed. The images reveal that before the crane fell, it started to sway due to the wind, but at the last moment, operator Bayat was able to maneuver the crane to prevent it from falling onto the area where other workers were present. This courageous act ultimately cost Bayat his life.
An investigation into the incident has been launched by gendarmerie teams, as they work to determine the cause of the tragic crane accident.
