New Diaspora Program Empowers Hungarian Organizations

Hungarian organizations in the diaspora have the opportunity to apply for the Strengthening Diaspora Program, as announced by the State Secretary for National Policy of the Prime Minister’s Office. The call for applications was published on Wednesday, and organizations have until May 5 to submit their proposals.
A total of HUF 500 million (EUR 1.2 million) will be provided by the government to support the operation, development, and equipment procurement of Hungarian organizations in the diaspora. This funding will also be used for implementing their programs and events. More details about the call can be found on the websites www.kulhonimagyarok.hu and www.bgazrt.hu.
The State Secretary emphasized the importance of supporting Hungarian diaspora communities, stating that the nation is one with those in the diaspora. Since 2010, special attention has been given to preserving and strengthening Hungarian diaspora communities.
Lőrinc Nacsa highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring that every Hungarian, regardless of where they reside, feels connected to the united Hungarian nation. Programs such as the Kőrösi Csoma Sándor program, summer camps for children and young people, and the Hungarian Schools Weekend in Budapest are examples of initiatives aimed at preserving identity and fostering ties with Hungary.
Applications for the Strengthening Diaspora Program will be open starting from Friday, giving Hungarian organizations in the diaspora the opportunity to access the support they need. It is evident that efforts are being made to ensure the preservation and prosperity of Hungarian communities around the world.
