
New Fruit and Vegetable Drying Facility Inaugurated with Ceremony

Inauguration of ‘Fruit and Vegetable Drying Facility’ in Yeşilyurt Village
The Rural Development Women’s Cooperative has inaugurated their new ‘Fruit and Vegetable Drying Facility’ with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency. The facility was officially opened with a ceremony held at Yeşilyurt village, where the president of the cooperative, Deniz Solyalı, provided information about their work and projects.
The goal of the cooperative is to increase the added value of local products and offer them to various markets. The event saw the participation and support of various officials, including Serkan Kayalar, the president of TIKA, who highlighted the importance of empowering women and increasing their welfare.
Lefke Mayor, Aziz Kaya, also emphasized the significance of the facility in supporting the transformation of the region’s rich product potential into added value. The Minister of Economy and Energy, Olgun Amcaoğlu, expressed his hope that the project, which involves women in the country’s economy, could serve as an example for future endeavors.
The Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hüseyin Çavuş, stressed the importance of cooperatives, emphasizing the support for product diversity, especially in the tropical fruit sector in Lefke. The ceremony was also attended by Sibel Tatar, wife of President Ersin Tatar, who highlighted the importance of supporting production-related activities and the inclusion of women in economic life.
Following the speeches, the opening ceremony took place, and the event concluded with visits to the producer women’s stands at the 4K COOP Social Development Center in Cengizköy, which was also created with the support of TIKA.
