Professor Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu Appointed as Minister of Health
In a recent announcement, Professor Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu has been appointed to the position of Minister of Health, filling the vacancy left by Fahrettin Koca, who requested to be relieved of his duties and had his request accepted by the Presidential Decree.
The decision regarding the appointment was officially published in the Official Gazette with the signature of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Istanbul Provincial Health Director, Professor Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, has now taken on the role of Health Minister, following the departure of Fahrettin Koca.
This appointment was made in accordance with Articles 104 and 106 of the Constitution, marking a significant change in the leadership of the Ministry of Health.
Who is Kemal Memişoğlu?
The new Minister of Health, Professor Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, hails from Rize and was born in Trabzon in 1966. He graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1990 and went on to specialize in General Surgery at Okmeydanı Training and Research Hospital in 1995.
Throughout his career, Memişoğlu has held various positions in the medical field, including working as a Chief Physician and Associate Professor of General Surgery. He has also taken on roles in health management and medical services, showcasing a diverse and accomplished background in the healthcare sector.
Since October 2016, Professor Dr. Memişoğlu has been serving as the Istanbul Provincial Health Director. Married and a father of three, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role as Minister of Health.
This appointment signals a new chapter in the Ministry of Health, with Professor Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu at the helm, leading efforts to promote and protect public health in Turkey.
