New Regulation Allows ‘125cc’ Motorcycles with ‘B’ Class License

New Regulation Allows Class A1 License Holders to Use Motorcycles
A recent publication in the Official Gazette has announced the Regulation on Amendments to the Highway Traffic Regulation. One of the significant changes introduced by this regulation is allowing motorcycles with a class A1 driver’s license to be used, in addition to those with a class B driver’s license, for all kinds of commercial activities.
According to the published regulation, individuals with a valid Class B driver’s license for at least 2 years, who meet the required health conditions and have not had their driver’s license temporarily or permanently withdrawn before, will be eligible to use motorcycles up to 125 cc. They must also complete a designated driving training course and pass a practical exam for the A1 class, organized by the Ministry of National Education. Once the certificate is recorded in the driver’s license system records, it will be possible to use motorcycles up to 125 cc without needing to write a code on the driver’s license.
Furthermore, individuals meeting the criteria will have the option to have the necessary code added to their driver’s license system records within 2 years, although it will not be a requirement. The regulation also specifies that it will come into force from the date of publication.
This amendment is expected to provide more flexibility for individuals who wish to use motorcycles for commercial activities and will likely have a positive impact on the commerce and transportation sectors. The new regulation aims to ensure that those with the necessary skills and experience are able to utilize motorcycles for their professional activities, while also meeting the required safety and training standards.
