New Road Service to Cut Travel Time by 12 Minutes
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu Attends Groundbreaking Ceremony for Nicosia Northern Ring Road
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Turkey, Abdulkadir Uraloğlu, recently attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Nicosia Northern Ring Road in a bid to improve transportation in the region.
During his speech at the ceremony, Uraloğlu highlighted the benefits of the project, stating that once completed, the travel time between various destinations will decrease significantly. He mentioned that the entire road, when in service, will cut down travel time from 21 minutes to just 9 minutes, making commuting easier and more efficient for the residents of Nicosia and surrounding settlements.
Uraloğlu emphasized that the Nicosia Northern Ring Road will not only reduce travel time but also contribute to significant savings in terms of both time and fuel costs. He estimated that the project will save approximately 1 billion 371 million liras annually, making it a valuable investment in the region’s infrastructure.
Furthermore, Uraloğlu provided details about the road’s construction, including its platform width, modern roundabouts, and the Kyrenia overpass that will enhance connectivity to the Kyrenia-Nicosia Road. He also highlighted the environmental benefits of the project, mentioning a reduction in carbon emissions and the preservation of nature.
In addition to the Nicosia Northern Ring Road project, Uraloğlu mentioned other initiatives aimed at improving transportation and infrastructure in Northern Cyprus. These projects include the Eastern Mediterranean Ship Traffic Services System Project, which aims to enhance maritime effectiveness in the region.
Uraloğlu expressed Turkey’s continued commitment to supporting the development and security of the TRNC under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. He emphasized the importance of cooperation and solidarity in achieving progress and prosperity for the Turkish Cypriot community.
