New Space Technology Manufacturing Center Coming to Hungary

On Monday, the 4iG group and space engineering company REMRED celebrated the topping out of a space technology manufacturing centre in Martonvásár, just outside of Budapest. The new centre, named REMTECH, will serve as a hub for developing, manufacturing, and testing satellites with international cooperation.
With over 130 technicians and space engineers already working on satellite projects, the centre aims to boost Hungary’s satellite production capacity. National Economy Minister Márton Nagy emphasized the importance of strengthening this capacity not only for economic reasons but also for security and sovereignty.
Hungary has ambitious plans to launch a new satellite in early 2027, and the government has allocated EUR 3.5m in funding to support local companies’ satellite projects in 2025. The REMTECH centre, with a cost of over HUF 10bn, will have the capacity to produce satellites up to 400kg and will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology solutions.
4iG envisions the aerospace manufacturing centre as a prominent base for satellite technology and the space industry, as well as an innovation hub for international cooperation and domestic knowledge industry. The centre is expected to meet the needs of both the domestic and international markets, with plans to launch and operate various satellites by 2032 under the HUSAT programme.
Furthermore, 4iG has already established partnerships for ground-based antenna systems associated with the HUSAT programme, aiming to deploy state-of-the-art communication systems for the satellites. These international partnerships will pave the way for technological advancements and increased access to funding from organizations such as ESA, EUSPA, and Horizon.
In a historic moment for Hungarian space exploration, the Puli ‘water snooper’ operated for 38 minutes on the Moon. Additionally, recent partnerships, such as the MoU signed with US peer Axiom Space, are expected to further propel the growth and innovation of the Hungarian space industry.
