US President Donald Trump has taken a bold step by signing a decree to impose additional customs duties on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. According to a statement from the White House, these tariffs will amount to 25 percent on imports from Canada and Mexico, 10 percent on imports from China, with a lower tariff of 10 percent applied to energy sources imported from Canada.
The decision to implement these tariffs stems from concerns about trade deficits and national security. The statement highlighted that Canada, Mexico, and China account for a significant percentage of global trade compared to the United States, which has the highest trade deficit in the world.
