New Title: Analysis of Changes in Wages and Pension Increases: Who Will Receive How Much Payment?
The inflation rate for the first 6 months of the year has been announced as 24.73 percent, leading to a 24.73 percent increase in the basic monthly salaries of retirees. As a result, the base monthly salary of 10 thousand TL has been raised to 12 thousand 500 TL in the new period. This increase also applies to widows’ and orphans’ salaries, prompting questions about how much they will receive and when the increased salaries will be paid.
Sworn-in Certified Public Accountant Ahmet Kurtuluş provided insights into the matter, stating, “The lowest retirement salary has been increased in line with the inflation rate. While there were expectations of the base salary increasing to between 12,500 TL and 13,000 TL, the actual increase has been deemed appropriate, especially for retirees with very low base salaries.”
When it comes to widow and orphan pensions, the amount given is dependent on whether the deceased retiree had children. If there are no children, 75 percent of the pension goes to the spouse. If there are children, 50 percent is allocated to the spouse and 25 percent to each child, with the total amount not exceeding the retirement pension.
For example, if a person receiving a 20 thousand TL pension passes away, 15 thousand TL would go to the spouse if there are no children. If there are 2 children, the spouse would receive 10 thousand TL, with each child receiving 2,500 TL. The payments remain within the limit of the retiree’s own salary.
Calculations based on the lowest retirement salary of 12,500 TL indicate that a spouse without children would receive 9,375 TL, while a spouse with one child would get 6,250 TL, and each of the remaining 2 children would receive 3,125 TL.
It is expected that the increased retirement salaries and corresponding payments to widows and orphans will be made this month, with SSK retirees already starting to receive their salaries. Any remaining difference payments are likely to be processed later in the month. In the event that payments are not completed in the current month, they will be deposited into accounts as soon as possible.
