New Title: Changes to Budapest Public Transport Schedule for Easter Weekend and Spring Break

The Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) has announced changes to public transport schedules during the Easter long weekend and spring school break.

Special timetables will be in effect on Thursday, 18 April and from Tuesday to Friday, 22-25 April following a school holiday schedule. Good Friday (18 April), Easter Sunday (20 April), and Easter Monday (21 April) will have holiday or public holiday timetables. Saturday, 19 April and Saturday, 26 April will follow Saturday timetables, while Sunday, 27 April will have the regular Sunday schedule.

Temporary road closures are expected during Easter processions on Saturday, 19 April, and Sunday morning, 20 April in various parts of the city, affecting some BKK routes.

During the Easter break, the Pest lower embankment will reopen for pedestrians, cyclists, and scooter users from Good Friday, 18 April, until Easter Monday, 21 April. This car-free zone between the Directional Street Exit Near Erzsébet Bridge and Margaret Bridge will provide a safe outdoor space for activities.

Maintenance works on tram line 1 and metro line M1 will cause disruptions from 22 to 27 April. Tram line 1 will run on a shortened route between Kelenföld Railway Station and Holy Spirit Square, with replacement buses operating on another section. Metro line M1 will also run on a shortened route with replacement buses covering part of the line.

BKK recommends using the Budapestgo mobile app to plan journeys and stay updated on real-time service changes. Stay informed and plan ahead for the Easter holidays with BKK’s schedule adjustments.
