EHang Announces Retail Price for EH 216 eVTOL Air Taxi
EHang’s EH 216 eVTOL has made history by becoming the first certified autonomous air carrier in the world. The unmanned aircraft has been tested and received permission to operate as a commercial air taxi in China. And now, EHang has gone a step further by announcing the retail price for its EH 216-S model.
The EH 216-S, as it is now known, will come with a price tag of 2.39 million yuan, which is approximately 332,304 US dollars. This offer is set to come into effect on April 1, and it is no joke. The EH 216-S is an eVTOL aircraft that is capable of autonomously transporting two passengers up to 30 km between charges at a maximum speed of about 130 km/h. It flies on eight coaxially mounted pairs of propellers, totaling 16 propellers.
After receiving a type certificate from the Civil Aviation Administration of China last October, the EH 216-S also obtained a standard airworthiness certificate in December. This led to the first deliveries of the eVTOL to corporate customers in China, who plan to use the aircraft for low-altitude sightseeing and urban tourism. In addition, the EH 216-S completed its first commercial demonstration flights in Guangzhou and Hefei in December.
EHang’s achievement marks a significant milestone in the field of urban air mobility, as it became the first certified air carrier to use autonomous air vehicles. However, for now, the air taxi will only be available for use in China.
