New Title: School Bus Fees for the Upcoming Year Revealed

School Bus Fees Increase in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir

Following the recent announcement of increased rates in Istanbul and Ankara, school bus fees have also been determined in Izmir. Compared to last year, school bus fees have increased by 16 percent in Istanbul, 40 percent in Ankara, and 20 percent in Izmir.

The Istanbul Service Vehicle Operators Chamber President, Günhar Sınar, stated that the Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Coordination Center (UKOME) has set the new price tariff for student service fees. Despite requesting a 40 percent increase due to various costs such as spare parts, tires, casco, insurance, repair, and fuel, the increase rate was determined as 16 percent by UKOME for Istanbul.

For the upcoming 2024-2025 academic year, the school bus fees have been adjusted as follows:
– 0-1 kilometers: 14,486 liras to 17,379 liras
– 1-3 kilometers: 15,512 liras to 18,612 liras
– 3-5 kilometers: 16,756 liras to 20,106 liras
– And so forth for distances up to 25 kilometers.

In addition to the base fees, a guide staff fee of 35 percent will be added to the tariff, and an additional 39.5 liras will be charged for each kilometer exceeding 25 kilometers.

One major concern highlighted by Sınar is the issue of “pirate buses”, which are unauthorized vehicles operating as school buses. Sınar emphasized the importance of using registered service vehicles for the safety of children and urged parents to be cautious when choosing transportation options.

In Ankara, the Service Vehicle Operators Chamber President, İlyas Aktürk, confirmed a 40 percent increase in school bus fees for the upcoming academic year. The fees have been adjusted for distances ranging from 0-15 kilometers, with an additional charge for guide services and exceeding kilometers.

Meanwhile, in Izmir, Erdem Mert, the President of the Izmir Chamber of Service Vehicle Operators, announced a 20 percent increase in service fees for the new academic year. The fees for various distances have been adjusted accordingly, with an additional fee for guide services on shuttles.

Overall, these adjustments in school bus fees aim to cover the rising operational costs and ensure the safety and quality of transportation services for students in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir. Parents are encouraged to prioritize registered service vehicles to avoid the risks associated with unauthorized “pirate buses”.
