New Train Service from Van to Tehran Launching Tomorrow

Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu has announced that the Van-Tahran Passenger Train will resume its services following negotiations with Iranian railways.

In a statement, Minister Uraloglu emphasized the importance of cooperation between Turkey and Iran in strengthening regional transportation and increasing tourism mobility. He stated, “The Van-Tahran train will once again be in operation, contributing to the strengthening of economic and cultural ties between the two countries.”

The train, operated by the Iranian passenger transport company (RAJA), will have a capacity of 40 people and will run mutual flights twice a week.

Minister Uraloglu revealed that the train will depart from Tehran to Van today, with return trips on Monday, March 10. He added, “Passengers can enjoy a 22-hour journey in the comfort of railway travel on Sundays and Wednesdays from Tehran to Van, and on Mondays and Thursdays from Van to Tehran.”

Highlighting the importance of the Van-Tahran train in promoting tourist activities between Turkey and Iran, Minister Uraloglu mentioned that the train had carried approximately 10 thousand passengers between 2019 and 2020 before the temporary suspension of services. He described the project as a significant step towards enhancing international cooperation in Turkey’s railway transportation sector.
