New Vocational Schools Train Experts to Fight Cyber Attacks

Turkey to Train Cyber Security Experts in Universities
In a bid to ensure digital security, a statement by Turkey’s Council of Higher Education (YÖK) has revealed that cyber security experts will now be trained in universities. In the statement which was made recently, YÖK highlighted that digitalisation has become increasingly important for public institutions and companies, hence the need to train cyber security professionals.
The announcement follows a protocol signed between YÖK and the Presidency Digital Transformation Office last year. Under the arrangement, four universities with technoparks will establish cyber security vocational schools to provide qualified personnel for the sector.
Ankara, Ege, Gebze Technical and Istanbul Technical universities have been selected to host the cyber security schools. According to the statement, students in the cyber security vocation schools will learn about security technologies, network security, penetration tests and data analysis, as well as basic topics in the field of cyber security.
Aside from providing theoretical knowledge, practical skills will be emphasised through laboratory and project studies. An English preparatory class is also included in the program for students.
Scholarships and employment support will be provided to students who opt for cyber security vocational schools. The program’s curriculum will be developed in collaboration with sector representatives and the Presidency Digital Transformation Office.
In line with encouraging students to take advantage of the cyber security vocational education, collaborating with leading companies in the sector has also been mentioned to aid in graduates’ employment prospects upon graduation.
