New Year Weather Forecast Released by Meteorology
The General Directorate of Meteorology has released its latest evaluation of the upcoming weather conditions in various regions of Turkey. According to the report, the northeast of the country and the western coasts will experience partly cloudy conditions, with locally light rain and showers expected in the western surroundings of Çanakkale, Balıkesir, and the Northern Aegean coasts, as well as the coastal parts of İzmir and Aydın. While other places will have slightly cloudy weather with light showers. The report also notes that haze and fog, sometimes dense, are expected in Marmara and the central and eastern parts.
Looking ahead to the new year, the Meteorology forecast indicates that in the first days of 2024, Turkey will generally experience the influence of a high-pressure center, resulting in light and medium rain in the western parts and partly cloudy, dry conditions in other regions. Night and morning hours, especially in the inner parts of the country, are expected to be foggy and misty.

– Slightly cloudy conditions, with haze and fog, sometimes dense, in the morning
The report further includes specific temperature ranges for major cities and areas in each region. For example, in Istanbul, temperatures are expected to range from 7°C to 15°C, with partly cloudy conditions and occasional fog in the morning.
In addition to the forecasted weather, the report also highlights specific weather events, such as dense fog prevailing in Çankırı where reduced visibility has impacted travel in the city center.
