“Newborn Gang” Case Hearing Postponed to Tomorrow

During an afternoon session at the Bakırköy 22nd High Criminal Court, a request for a “recusal judge” made by a defendant’s lawyer was rejected by the court panel. The hearing continued with the examination of witnesses, but the defendant’s lawyers insisted on their right to object to the rejection decision and requested that the upper court evaluate the objection before proceeding.
Burak Mengü, representing the defendant, expressed his disapproval of the decision, stating, “This goes against the law and proper procedure. I once again reject your decision.” In response, the court committee decided to forego hearing the witnesses and instead entertained the defendants’ requests for release.
Following this development, the hearing moved on to the statements provided by the defendant’s lawyers regarding their requests for release. The court ultimately decided to adjourn the hearing until the following day in order to further consider the requests made by the defendants’ legal representatives.
The case, which is being closely monitored by the public, continues to unfold as legal proceedings proceed. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
