Newborn Gang Case: Second Hearing Update
Four unauthorized defendants were arrested following a court panel decision at the first hearing. Among the defendants who were previously tried without detention, Mehmet Gürül, a doctor at TRG Hospitalist Hospital, Murat Mantuş, Administrative Manager of TRG Hospitalist Hospital, Şeyhmus Çelik, a doctor, and doctor Ali Dirik, the responsible manager of Esenler Güney Hospital, have been arrested.
Furthermore, in a new report prepared by the Organized Crimes and Terrorist Crimes Investigation Bureau of the Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office regarding the “Yenidoğan gang”, suspects Hilda Keykubad, Dursun Eryılmaz, Seher Çuhadar, and Şeyhmus Çelik have been sentenced to 15 years in prison each for the crime of “committing intentional murder with negligent behavior”, with a required prison sentence of up to one year.
Additionally, a prison sentence of 2 to 4 years is being requested for suspect Mustafa Kemal Zengin for “aiding an organization established to commit a crime”.
The memorandum also includes requests for prison sentences of varying degrees for the other 13 suspects for different crimes. The legal proceedings are ongoing as the authorities continue to investigate the case.
