Newly Discovered Drug Factories Linked to Assad’s Brother
Drug Production Center Belonging to Assad’s Brother Uncovered in Syria
A shocking revelation has come to light in the town of Dimes, west of Damascus, the capital of Syria. It was uncovered that a villa belonging to Mahir Assad, the brother of the deposed leader Bashar Assad, was being used as a drug production center.
Following the fall of the Baath regime on December 8, more drug production centers in the country are continuing to be exposed. The AA team inspected the drug factory located in the villa, confirmed to belong to Mahir Assad, the brother of the former dictator.
The villa in Dimes was found to contain dozens of barrels filled with raw materials and various machinery used in drug production. Images revealed that the equipment used for drug production resembled those used by pharmaceutical companies.
Reports indicate that the deposed regime seized civilian villas and repurposed them into drug factories. These operations were part of the regime’s illicit drug trade, which was a major source of income worth billions of dollars.
Maher Assad, leading the drug production and smuggling network, was responsible for shipping the substances produced in Syria to regional countries and beyond, primarily through Lebanon.
The uncovering of the drug production center in Mahir Assad’s villa sheds light on the extent of the regime’s involvement in the illegal drug trade. Authorities are working to dismantle these operations and hold those responsible for these illegal activities to account.
