
Nicosia Police Chief and Deputy Police Chief Attend Ceremony

The President of the Assembly of the Republic, Zorlu Töre, has made a statement regarding strikes and demonstrations in front of the Parliament. Töre expressed that while he is not against protests, he believes that the police should take legal action against those who pose a threat to state property.
Töre highlighted instances where protests in front of the Parliament have turned violent, involving actions such as breaking doors, throwing objects, and resisting police intervention. He emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order during such demonstrations.
During a ceremony attended by Nicosia Police Chief Tarkan Kızıltuğ and Nicosia Deputy Police Chief Hasan Karabaşak, Töre commended the efforts of the police in tackling traffic accidents and criminal activities. He recognized the crucial role of the police force in ensuring internal security and preventing conflicts.
Töre also mentioned the existence of a police security department dedicated to safeguarding the Parliament’s premises. He reassured that additional police forces are deployed whenever necessary to reinforce security measures.
As the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Töre emphasized the need for legal action against individuals responsible for damaging state property. He stressed that withdrawing complaints in such cases is not an option.
