Health Minister Memişoğlu Optimistic About Hatay’s Recovery and Preparedness for Monkeypox Virus
During the Provincial Evaluation Meeting at the AFAD Coordination Center, Health Minister Memişoğlu expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the earthquakes that occurred on February 6, 2023, and wished a speedy recovery for the injured individuals.
Highlighting the progress made in the reconstruction efforts since the earthquake, Memişoğlu praised Hatay for its transformation into a city of high quality within just 1.5 years. He acknowledged that there are still some challenges to overcome but expressed confidence that they will be addressed quickly. Memişoğlu commended the efforts of the healthcare professionals in the region and encouraged people to visit Hatay to witness Turkey’s resilience and strength in times of crisis.
The Minister also announced the construction of six hospitals in Hatay with plans for more in the pipeline. He emphasized the importance of providing healthcare services to the community and outlined plans for healthy life centers and family health centers to be established in the city.
Turning his focus to the recent emergence of the monkeypox virus, Memişoğlu reassured the public that Turkey’s health system is well-equipped to handle any epidemic or health-related issue. He urged people to rely on official information and guidelines, emphasizing the significance of personal hygiene in preventing the spread of diseases.
Memişoğlu assured the public that the government is closely monitoring the situation and has taken necessary precautions to prevent the spread of monkeypox. He emphasized the importance of staying calm and trusting in the health authorities to manage any potential outbreak effectively.
