Minister Yerlikaya Highlights Success in Crime Prevention and Security Measures in Van
Minister Ali Yerlikaya recently attended the “Turkey’s Peace” meeting in Van, where he discussed the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. During his visit to the Governorship, Yerlikaya expressed his satisfaction with the coordinated efforts of all institutions and units in Van.
Yerlikaya highlighted the significant progress in the fight against crimes committed against persons and property in Van, stating that there has been a decrease of around 1 percent in crimes against individuals and a decrease of around 11 percent in property crimes compared to the previous period. He emphasized the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ commitment to preventing crime incidents and ensuring the swift resolution of criminal cases.
The resolution rate for the 10 most important crimes committed against individuals in Van was reported to be 98.9 percent, while the resolution rate for property crimes stood at 77 percent. Yerlikaya also shared statistics showing a decrease in car and motorcycle thefts in Van, indicating an improvement in overall security measures.
In addition to crime prevention efforts, Yerlikaya highlighted the successful operations against organized crime organizations in Van, as well as the ongoing fight against terrorist organizations such as PKK/KCK, FETÖ, and ISIS. He emphasized the strong will of the state and the nation in combating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the region.
Yerlikaya also addressed the issue of migrant smuggling and human trafficking, reporting on the consistent efforts to prevent irregular migration and apprehend offenders. He encouraged the support of citizens in combating these illegal activities and shared data on the number of irregular migrants intercepted at the border.
Furthermore, Yerlikaya announced plans to transform a parcel of land taken from the State Hydraulic Works Regional Directorate in Van into a public garden and government building in the coming months, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing the infrastructure and public spaces in the region.
