Number of Detainees in Discord Investigation Rises to 5
Two administrators of the Discord group “C31K” have been detained by authorities in Ankara following an investigation by the Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. EK and AT were taken to the courthouse after undergoing procedures at the Ankara Police Department. EK, who provided a statement to the prosecutor, was arrested, while AT was released under judicial control.
Additionally, another suspect, Ö.P., who allegedly requested a woman to pour cologne on his body and set it on fire during a Discord broadcast, was also arrested by the court.
The investigation stems from a social media post by Minister of Internal Affairs Ali Yerlikaya on October 6, where he revealed that a video circulating online depicting threats towards a girl was determined to be fictional by the Cyber Department. ENB, the child involved in the video, was taken into custody by the Izmir Police Department, and T.D., who spread misleading information about the incident, was detained in Ankara.
Furthermore, administrators TD and MEÖ, as well as FT, of the group “HAHA” on Discord, were also arrested in connection to the investigation. This brings the total number of detainees in the case to 5.
The authorities are continuing their investigation into the incidents and taking necessary actions to ensure justice is served.
