One Missing in Bingol Avalanche
Avalanche in Yenisu village of Genç district prompts search and rescue operation
A terrifying avalanche occurred yesterday evening in the Yenisu village area of Genç district, leaving a citizen missing. The citizen had reportedly gone to his home in the affected area, but when his family could not reach him, they immediately informed the gendarmerie teams.
Upon arriving at the scene, the gendarmerie teams noticed footprints in the snow where the avalanche had struck. Subsequently, a joint effort involving gendarmerie, AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Authority), SAR Search and Rescue teams, as well as security guards was launched to locate the missing individual.
Search and rescue operations began in the evening and continued throughout the early morning hours. Bingöl Governor Ahmet Hamdi Usta revealed that a total of 30 AFAD personnel, 8 NGO search and rescue teams, 7 SAR Search and Rescue units, 28 gendarmerie officers, and 25 security guards were actively participating in the search and rescue mission.
Governor Usta assured the public that the search and rescue efforts were ongoing at full throttle to locate the missing individual and possibly save his life. The community remains hopeful for a successful outcome and urges everyone to stay safe and cautious during this critical time.
