One person dies from natural gas poisoning in Artvin
A Teenager Dies and His Grandmother is Hospitalized Due to Gas Leak in Their Home
Tragic news emerged from the Yeniköy District of the Şavşat district, where a 17-year-old boy named Barış Gümüş and his 70-year-old grandmother, Bilor Gümüş, were found lying motionless in their home. According to reports, the family members of Barış became concerned when they couldn’t reach him and his grandmother, prompting them to visit the house. Upon arrival, they discovered the two relatives lying on the ground.
Emergency services were immediately contacted, and both the police and 112 Emergency Health teams rushed to the scene. It was suspected that the cause of the incident was a natural gas leak, leading to Barış and Bilor being poisoned. They were promptly transported to Şavşat State Hospital for medical treatment.
Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, Barış Gümüş succumbed to the poisoning. Meanwhile, his grandmother Bilor Gümüş remained in serious condition and was transferred to Artvin State Hospital for further treatment. Authorities have sent Barış’s body to the Artvin Forensic Medicine Institute for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
