One Team, One Triumph: BRTK U16 Women’s Basketball Championship
BRTK U-16 Women’s Basketball Championship Kicks Off in Northern Cyprus
Celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Bayrak Radio Television Corporation (BRTK) are in full swing with the kickoff of the BRT U-16 women’s basketball championship. The championship, themed “One Spirit One Victory,” is being hosted by the Levent Sports Club and will see teams from Turkey and Azerbaijan competing.
The championship, which will last for two days, is part of the anniversary celebrations of BRTK, which has been the voice of Turkish Cypriots for the past 60 years. The event is a testament to the strong ties between the participating nations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, BRTK director Meryem Özkurt expressed gratitude to the Levent Schools for hosting the event and extended a warm welcome to the teams from Turkey and Azerbaijan.
The President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Basketball Federation, Orhun Mevlit, praised Levent Sports and Levent College for consistently making the TRNC proud with their women’s basketball team.
President Ersin Tatar also congratulated the organizers and expressed his delight at welcoming the guest teams to the TRNC. He emphasized the importance of solidarity and cooperation among Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the TRNC.
The championship was officially inaugurated by Parliamentary Speaker Zorlu Töre, and after all six matches are completed, an award ceremony will be held tomorrow at 14:00 to conclude the 2-day event.
The BRT U-16 Women’s Basketball Championship is not only a celebration of sports but also a testament to the strong bonds between Turkey, Azerbaijan, and the TRNC.
