Opposition Jobbik – Conservatives Call for Halting Eviction Notice in Budapest
The opposition Jobbik – Conservatives party is urging for the halting of a 30-day eviction notice that was issued to residents living on the site of a major investment project in Rákosrendező, Budapest. The EUR 5 billion rehabilitation project, spearheaded by UAE developer Eagle Hills, would result in the eviction of residents from approximately 25 flats in the area.
Lawmaker Dániel Kárpát Z spoke out against the eviction notices, emphasizing the need for a moratorium until residents can be provided with alternative housing options that are of equal or higher quality than their current apartments. “The procedure may be legal, but it is simply not acceptable for the interests of foreign investors to take precedence over those of Hungarian residents,” he stated.
