Orange and Yellow Weather Warnings issued by Meteorology Department
Recent estimates indicate that several regions in Turkey are currently experiencing snowy weather. The Central and Eastern Black Sea coasts, Eastern and Southeastern Anatolia regions, as well as Istanbul and its surrounding areas, have been covered in snow. The forecast suggests that the snowfall will continue tomorrow.
Warnings have been issued for several provinces in Turkey. Yalova, Kocaeli, Sakarya, Düzce, Zonguldak, Kastamonu, Sinop, and Bartın have been categorized under an “orange” warning, while 25 provinces including Istanbul have been placed under a “yellow” warning. In total, 33 provinces have received warnings due to the inclement weather conditions.
The weather conditions in the Marmara, coastal Aegean, Mediterranean regions, and the south of Central Anatolia are expected to be impacted by a storm with wind speeds reaching up to 60 kilometers per hour. Authorities have warned of a high risk of avalanches in the upright and sloping slopes of the Eastern Black Sea and the east of Eastern Anatolia.
Furthermore, there is a warning against icing and frost events across the country, with temperatures expected to drop below seasonal norms by 2 to 4 degrees. The General Directorate of Meteorology and AFAD have advised caution against strong snowfall leading to icing and frost events in various provinces. Experts are urging citizens to exercise caution and be prepared for any potential challenges posed by the severe weather conditions.
