Ordu-Giresun Airport to Undergo 50-Day Closure for Maintenance

Ordu-Giresun Airport to Undergo Apron Expansion and Repair Work

Ordu-Giresun Airport, the first airport in Turkey and Europe built on the sea, will undergo major upgrades as part of the “Apron Expansion and PAT Area Repair” tender held by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure in 2023. The airport, officially opened in 2015, will see improvements to its rainwater drainage systems, asphalt and concrete manufacturing, special lighting, direction signs, strip field arrangements, runway maintenance, and ground markings.

The contractor company awarded the project will increase the number of aircraft parking areas from 5 to 9 and construct a second taxiway to complement the existing one. These enhancements aim to improve efficiency and service quality at Ordu-Giresun Airport.

To facilitate the construction work, Ordu-Giresun Airport will be closed to flights from September 16 to November 5. The last flight before the closure is scheduled to depart for Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen at 21:40 this evening.

Passengers and airlines operating at Ordu-Giresun Airport are advised to make alternative travel arrangements during the closure period. The airport is expected to reopen with upgraded facilities that will enhance the overall travel experience for passengers.
