“Our Goal: Solving the Problems of 85 Million”
The leader of the main opposition party in Turkey, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, has promised to bring goodness, love, peace, justice, and human rights to the country. Speaking at a rally in Sakarya Democracy Square, Kılıçdaroğlu said that his doors will be open to those who have been wronged and emphasized the importance of solving the economic problems facing Turkey. He also promised to be the president of all 85 million people without discrimination or marginalization.
Kılıçdaroğlu highlighted the role of young people in changing Turkey’s fate and urged them to use their votes to promote democracy, justice, law, and hard work. He also pledged to catch the killers of Police Chief Ali Gaffar Okkan and Sinan Ateş to ensure justice for their families.
During his speech, Kılıçdaroğlu promised to deliver the keys of their houses without taking any money from the earthquake victims and reminded the retirees of their holiday bonus of 15,000 liras. He added that freedom of the press is invaluable, and politicians need criticism to improve their performance.
The Saadet Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu, Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu and Ankara Metropolitan Mayor Mansur Yavaş also gave speeches at the rally. However, towards the end of the event, a stone was thrown at the back of Kılıçdaroğlu’s bus. A 16-year-old teenager was taken into custody by the police for questioning.
Kılıçdaroğlu’s promises have been met with skepticism by some, who criticize his previous track record and ability to deliver. Nevertheless, his message of inclusivity and justice has resonated with many Turks, particularly the youth who will cast their votes in the upcoming elections.
